Subject: A Lake Erie to Waterloo Region Pipeline?
Several meetings ago, GREN decided to set up a committee to explore and organize around the issue of the Region of Waterloo’s plans to build a pipeline to Lake Erie for a long-term water supply. At that meeting, we decided that we wanted to show that if we properly managed our waters we would have no need to have a pipeline out to the Great Lakes. Our committee will put together materials on the need issue and better ways to address those needs and on the negative consequences of building a major pipeline. We will also develop a strategy for achieving our goals. The people who volunteered for that committee were Susan Bryant, Robert Case, and Kim Cuddington. I will chair the group.
If anyone else wishes to join this committee, please let me know by the end of this week. I want to set up a first meeting of the committee in early May.
