Open Text Paints Bright Future for Broadcasters on the Web
With Addition of Vizible, Open Text to Add Revolutionary User Interface
to Proven Media Management System
LAS VEGAS - Open Text announced that it will be demonstrating a
breakthrough 3D interface at the 2009 NAB Show this week that will give
broadcasters and content creators a compelling new way of delivering rich
media content - one that will sift through the volume and complexity of
information users must contend with on the Web. This interface, developed by
recently acquired Vizible Corp., will be integrated with Open Text's proven
media management solutions offered as part of the Open Text ECM Suite.
While many in the broadcast industry see media developments around Web
2.0 as spurring new revenue streams, they also worry about controlling and
managing their valuable intellectual property. They face pressure to
economically manage the burgeoning number of workflows for organizing,
editing, and collaboration and to distribute media to a rapidly growing number
of platforms and devices. At the same time, traditional ways of presenting and
managing content are falling behind as the amount and complexity of
information increases.
"We have reached the point where two dimensions are not enough for people
to make sense of all the information they need to process," said Scott Bowen,
President of Open Text's Digital Media Group. "The Vizible interface provides
a revolutionary new way to deliver content for a more satisfying and immersive
user experience. And, all this will be supported by the strength of our
industry leading content and digital media management solutions."
Vizible will let broadcasters present content such as a videos, music or
photos as cells in 3D layouts. Each cell is actionable by the viewer, meaning
the user can choose to view a video or photo and experience the media, or the
cells can reassemble around a particular topic or theme based on user
preference. This level of visual appeal, interaction and personalization will
help broadcasters drive user adoption and maintain user engagement.
And Vizible goes beyond the browser to enable cross-platform content
experiences on mobile devices such as smart phones with a consistent
high-quality user experience. It also lets broadcasters syndicate content via
rich media widgets to blogs, Facebook or MySpace pages and sites like iGoogle
or iPlayer from the BBC. While opening new avenues for distributing content to
the social Web, the Open Text solution provides the tools needed to manage and
control usage and to capture analytics to enhance personalization or to
deliver targeted advertising.
Open Text's Digital Media Group will be delivering demonstrations of the
Vizible technology in booth SU11417 throughout the 2009 NAB Show. Open Text
will also be providing informative talks on how enterprise and SaaS Digital
Asset Management solutions can help streamline workflows and maximize the
value of the rich media content powering marketing, production processes, or
publishing operations.
