WATERLOO—Best-selling author and business visionary Dr. John Izzo will speak at Wilfrid Laurier University on Friday, May 8. Izzo’s presentation is part of Development Day 2009, an annual event coordinated by Laurier’s alumni relations department featuring personal and professional development sessions by industry experts.

“Dr. Izzo’s sessions, ‘The Five Secrets You Must Discover Before You Die’ and ‘Rediscovering the Joy and Wonder of Work,’ will help participants learn the secrets of a life worth living and how to rediscover their passion for work,” said Roly Webster, associate director, alumni relations.

Izzo is the author of over 150 articles and three books including his international best seller, Awakening Corporate Soul. Izzo is a frequent contributor to the Globe and Mail and has been featured in Fast Company and The Wall Street Journal. He has also appeared on CNN, Canada AM, CBC Radio and ABC World News. The Biography Channel featured a five-part series with Izzo entitled, The Five Things You Must Discover Before You Die.

Development Day 2009 will also feature industry leaders and experts speaking about entrepreneurship, leadership, career management, identity theft and personal finance. Douglas Porter, deputy chief economist and managing director at BMO, will present a lunchtime session, “Economic Downturn: Canadian Implications.”
