April 2009 Car Sales
BMW Motorrad and BMW Pre-Owned both set all time best monthly sales records.
WHITBY - BMW Group Canada (BMW and MINI Brands combined)
sold 2,297 vehicles in April 2009, down 17% compared to April 2008.
Year-to-date sales for BMW Group Canada are 6,621 units, down 9% compared to
the same period last year.
BMW Brand: The new 7 Series and X6 lead the way with sales increases.
The BMW brand retailed 1,931 units, down 16% compared to April 2008.
Year-to-date, 5,712 BMWs have been retailed, a decrease of 7% compared to the
same period last year.
Sales of BMW's new 7 Series flagship model were up 16% in April compared
to April last year. The new luxury sedan hit showrooms for the first time this
March and sales are already off to a good start.
The success of the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe has continued in April.
Sales were up 295% compared to April last year.
MINI Brand.
In April, there were 366 MINIs sold, down 20% compared to April 2008.
Year to date, 909 MINIs have been sold, down 21% compared to the same period
in 2008.
BMW Motorrad: Best ever motorcycle sales month.
BMW Motorrad Canada set an all time best monthly sales record of 357
units, up 19% compared to April last year. Year-to-date, sales are up 49% to
593 units compared to the same period last year.
Pre-Owned: Best sales month on record for BMW Pre-Owned.
The BMW Pre-Owned division set an all time best monthly sales record in
April. Total BMW Pre-Owned sales were up 42% to 1,109 units in April. BMW
Certified Series Pre-Owned sales increased 40% to 931 units compared to April
2008.
Year-to-date, total BMW Pre-Owned sales are up 34%, with 3,359 units
sold. Of those, 2,859 units were BMW Certified Series Pre-Owned sales, which
are up 35% compared to the same period last year.
Year-to-date MINI pre-owned sales are up 3% to 250 units compared to the
same period in 2008. Of those sales, 154 were MINI NEXT Certified Pre-Owned
sales, an increase of 3% compared to the same period last year. MINI NEXT
Certified Pre-Owned sales are down 13% to 41 units in April. Total MINI
Pre-Owned vehicle sales are down 27% to 65 units compared to April last year.
