Mercedes-Benz reports its best month ever

TORONTO - Mercedes-Benz Canada reported today that a record-breaking total of 2,267 Mercedes-Benz units were registered to customers in April, representing a 21.3% gain and the best month in history on the Mercedes-Benz side. In addition, a total of 250 smart fortwos were sold throughout the month, bringing total combined deliveries to 2,517. This represents the best April ever for Mercedes-Benz Canada and pushes year-to-date growth to 13.0%.

Very strong B-Class, C-Class, SLK-Class, CLS-Class, GLK-Class, M-Class and R-Class model sales contributed to April's success. The all-new 2010 GLK-Class remained at the top of Canadian's shopping lists and continued to be an outstanding seller with 601 units delivered to customers throughout the month. The SLK-Class and CLS-Class also posted considerable gains in April, up 44.4% and 35.3% respectively.

Luxury light trucks reported impressive results and strong overall growth in April with 1,002 units retailed for the month. The diesel sales ratio was 53.6% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC(TM) units accounted for 74.6% of the overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).

Pre-owned Mercedes-Benz sales also reported a 6.5% increase and their best month ever with 749 vehicles delivered in April.

"The second quarter is off to an outstanding start. I am thrilled to see that our momentum has continued with another consecutive month of sales growth and the best month ever for both the Mercedes-Benz side and Pre-owned," said Marcus Breitschwerdt, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "Our product line is the strongest it has been in our history, but that is really only part of what shaped this month's sales story. These results would not have been possible without our dedicated employees and dealers. I am proud of everyone's contributions, and very grateful for their hard work and determination to consistently exceed customer expectations. The winning combination of exceptional products and an excellent team continues to produce outstanding results."
