WRIEN activities have generated the following information bites
Waterloo Region - Focus for Ethnic women extends an invite to all to join them for their May 27 Annual meeting and graduation
· Minister Jason Kenney - holds immigration target steady at 250,000 recognizing that skills shortages are and will exist as we come out of the recession
· The Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation Annual Town Hall meeting is scheduled for May 26 from 4:30pm 6:00pm at Kitchener City Hall.
· Kumanan and Peter McFadden had the pleasure of meeting with the Executive Committee of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at Conestoga College this week. Due to the current downturn in the economy, particularly in manufacturing that membership has been negatively impacted. Despite this they were very supportive of WRIEN’s efforts and programs.
· On Wednesday we held the 4th Networking / Recruiting Event at Cambridge City Hall about 20 employers and 45 ITIs attended.
· Today the Ministry of Colleges Training and Universities and Employment Ontario celebrated the opening of their new regional office at 4275 King Street East (the old Lulus site) WRIEN was there as were many of our partners. Minister John Milloy, Leeana Pendergast, Regional Chair Ken Seiling and Mayor Carl Zehr all provided congratulatory words.
· Our team provided a mentorship presentation to City ofWaterloo staff
