Six outstanding leaders honoured by the Italian-Canadian business community

TORONTO – Winners of the 7th annual Italian Chamber of Commerce of Toronto Business Excellence Awards (BEA) were announced today in Toronto. The awards are presented to the most outstanding and innovative leaders from the Italian-Canadian business community each year.

The 2009 Business Excellence Award winners are:

Business Excellence Award:
Mr. Toni Varone, Montecassino Hospitality
Group

New Generation Award:
Mr. Mark Rechichi & Mr. Alex Rechichi, Extreme
Brandz Inc.

Arts and Culture Award:
Mr. Franco Mirabelli, Mirabelli Design Inc.

Community Building Award:
Ms. Frances Lankin, United Way Toronto

Scotiabank ICCT Environmental Leadership Award:
Mr. Tony Verrelli,
Cleanfield Alternative Energy Inc.

“Each year, we single out business leaders whose commitment to excellence has allowed them to rise above the rest. All of the 2009 BEA recipients exemplify those qualities necessary to achieve such excellence – hard work, vision and a commitment to giving something back to the community,” says George Visintin, President, ICCT.

The awards will be presented at a gala dinner at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. More than 500 guests, including many business, political and cultural leaders from the Greater Toronto area are expected to be in attendance at the event.

This year the ICCT is honoured to welcome Roberto Formigoni as the Keynote Speaker. Mr. Formigoni is the President of the Region of Lombardy and is visiting Canada to explore and strengthen the natural alliances between Ontario and Lombardy in sectors of common interest.
