CIGI lecture examines Canada’s Americas policy

Waterloo – Chantal Blouin, a foreign policy specialist, will give a talk at The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) on May 20, as part of CIGI’s ongoing Signature Lecture Series.

In recent years, the Canadian government has set the Americas as a foreign and trade policy priority. Yet, it has not provided many details on its specific strategies. During her talk, titled Canadian Foreign Policy in the Americas: Building on our Strengths, Dr. Blouin will discuss how Canada can successfully position itself as a leader in the Americas, particularly from an extractive industries perspective, and the opportunities it could bring.

Dr. Blouin is a senior research associate at Carleton University’s Centre for Trade Policy and Law, a policy research centre at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, and one of several academics chosen by the CIC to contribute new perspectives leading to debate and discussion in vital areas of Canadian foreign policy.

A question-and-answer session follows the lecture which is co-presented by CIGI and CIC.
