Fifth Annual Drive to Deliver Golf Tournament
Proceeds to Support Community Support Connections
Waterloo, Ont. Community Support Connections Meals on Wheels and More will host their annual Drive to Deliver Golf Tournament Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Rebel Creek Golf Course. It is the fifth year for this fundraiser, which raises money to enable local seniors and adults with disabilities to live in their own homes.
Golfers will enjoy a day on Rebel Creek Golf course, lunch, dinner and the opportunity to bid on several silent auction items. This year hole in one opportunities include a car from Gary Stockie Chevrolet and $10,000 from KOOL FM.
“Proceeds from last year’s golf tournament subsidized the delivery of 9,144 meals to low income clients,” says Monica Himmelman, Board President of Community Support Connections. “We depend on fundraising and generous donations from the community to help meet the needs of our most vulnerable clients.”
Community Support Connections Meals on Wheels and More is the result of a strategic merger of four local organizations RAISE, Friendship Group, Meals on Wheels in KW and Cambridge each with a long history of serving seniors. Our mission is to enable seniors and adults with disability to live with independence and dignity in their own homes.
Each year Community Support Connections reaches out to approximately 3,000 seniors in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and the surrounding area. Services provided by Community
Support Connections include Meals on Wheels, transportation to medical appointments, assistance with grocery shopping and other tasks of daily living, friendly visiting, telephone reassurance and security checks, crisis intervention and assistance, caregiver support and relief, homemaking, home maintenance, snow removal, community dining and gentle exercise classes.
