Mennonite Savings and Credit Union Employee Recognized as National Young Leader
Kitchener - Shawn Good, Manager Branch Operations at Kitchener-based Mennonite Savings and Credit Union (MSCU), was recognized with the National Young Leaders Award at a ceremony held Wednesday May 6 in Halifax.
The National Young Leaders Award provides a $10,000 scholarship to cover tuition and travel costs to attend a leadership development program at a university in Canada. Credit Union Central of Canada presented its annual National Credit Union Awards for outstanding achievement during a ceremony Wednesday that wrapped up its annual conference.
Good noted, “I'm honoured by this recognition, and truly excited to serve, collaborate, and lead within the credit union system across Canada. Given today's economic environment, we have an incredible opportunity to make a difference in our communities, and offer a refreshing values-based approach to financial services.”
Good joined MSCU in 1993 as a Loans Officer and has since excelled in a variety of roles. In his current position as Manager Branch Operations Shawn has overseen the opening of two full service branches and one satellite branch over the last three years. Shawn recently spearheaded the adoption of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system across MSCU’s 8 branches and head office.
This is not the first award for the 35 year old resident of Heidelberg. In 2007 Good was the recipient of the Young Credit Union People Program scholarship, given by the World Council of Credit Unions. Good was an early initiator and champion of the Community Effort/Enterprise Facilitation project bringing support, encouragement and expertise to community entrepreneurs.
“Throughout his sixteen-year career with MSCU and his many community involvements, Shawn has proven to be an extremely hard working, engaged employee, fully committed to the credit union’s values and mission,” said Nick Driedger, CEO.
