Shared strength: Ontario's nonprofits come together
TORONTO - The Ontario Nonprofit Network (ONN) is convening
an unprecedented, province-wide forum for Ontario's nonprofits this May in
Toronto. The two-day forum, titled Our Sector, Our Vision: Shaping a
cross-sectoral strategy, will bring together nonprofits from sectors including
the environment, the arts and social services to develop strategies and take
action.
Conference speakers include Toronto Star columnist Carol Goar, Helen
Burstyn, Chair of The Ontario Trillium Foundation, Lynn Eakin from Lynn Eakin
& Associates, Tonya Surman, Executive Director of the Centre for Social
Innovation and Peter Clutterbuck of the Social Planning Network of Ontario.
The forum will explore cross-sectoral issues, include action-oriented strategy
sessions and feature in-depth discussions about the future of the nonprofit
sector.
"As the recession continues, nonprofits must begin to influence policy
and help shape the big picture - the context in which we work," says ONN
Director Constance Exley. "This forum is an opportunity for those working in
the nonprofit sector to meet colleagues, create concrete strategies and dream
big about the Ontario we're working to build together."
