CIGI co-hosts investment and economic roundtable on Zimbabwe’s growth take-off
Waterloo The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is co-hosting an international investment and economic roundtable entitled Preparing for Zimbabwe’s Growth Take-off from May 22-23, 2009 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
The aim of the roundtable is to offer policy advice and help facilitate engagement in private sector-led economic reconstruction efforts in Zimbabwe, which is slowly beginning to recover after a decade-long economic crisis that plagued the once thriving southern African country and its people.
Economic cluster ministers in the Zimbabwe government from the ministries of economic planning, investment, industry, tourism and the environment are participating in this event, as well as senior executives from Zimbabwe’s industrial and private sectors.
Among the issues participants will discuss are: (1) enhancing the role of Zimbabwe’s private sector in reconstruction efforts, (2) mobilizing foreign investors and donors, (3) confronting climate change, globalization and other new challenges, (4) identifying avenues for sustainable development, (5) examining the world trade regime and accessing its markets, (6) reforming investment climate, (7) harnessing opportunities with rising global powers, such as China and India.
Preparing for Zimbabwe’s Growth Take-off is co-hosted by the Development Enterprise Africa Trust (DEAT), a Zimbabwe-based policy research organization, with support from
Frontier Advisory, Zimbabwe Independent, African Sun Limited, Air Zimbabwe Holdings and AICO Africa Limited.
