MILLER THOMSON LLP ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNERS

WATERLOO – Miller Thomson LLP is pleased to announce that Steven O’Melia, David Borges and Nick de Koning of the Waterloo office have been named partners of the firm.

Steve O’Melia focuses his practice on municipal, planning/development, environmental and expropriation law. Acting for both public and private sector clients, Steve frequently appears before municipal councils, committees and administrative tribunals such as the Ontario Municipal Board and the Assessment Review Board. He has successfully represented clients before all levels of the Ontario Court on municipal law matters.

David Borges has developed his expertise in corporate and commercial law and real estate law. He has been involved in various merger and acquisition transactions of various sizes and sectors, including new technology, manufacturing and service related transactions. His experience with corporate financing extends to different forms of equity and debt financing structures. On the real estate side, David has a wide range of experience ranging from residential transactions to large-scale shopping plaza developments.

Nick de Koning’s practice has an emphasis on the defence of first and third party claims arising from motor vehicle accidents. He has developed a special expertise in the realm of statutory accident benefits disputes, including priority disputes and loss transfer matters.
