Laurier librarian wins Canadian Library Association award

Waterloo - Carol Stephenson, head of collections and acquisitions for Laurier’s library, has won the Canadian Library Association’s award for Outstanding Contribution to Collection Development and Management.

Stephenson was recognized for her contributions to many Ontario Council of University Libraries initiatives over the years, including leading last year’s successful negotiations to obtain electronic book content from the international publisher, Springer. The deal gives all Ontario universities permanent access to over 12,000 electronic books.

Stephenson will receive the award May 29 at the Canadian Library Association’s National Conference & Trade Show in Montreal.

The Canadian Library Association/Association canadienne des bibliothèques is Canada’s largest library association, representing the interests of public, academic, school and special libraries, professional librarians and library workers. The award for Outstanding Contribution to Collection Development and Management is sponsored by YBP Library Services.
