Local Communicators Give Back to Not-for-Profits: Gift of Communication Symposium today
WATERLOO - On Wednesday, May 20, 2009, the International
Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Grand Valley Chapter is
hosting the “Gift of Communication Symposium” in partnership with WFRE
(Waterloo-Wellington Fundraising Professionals), CAGP (Canadian
Association of Gift Planners), and VAC (Volunteer Action Centre). The
symposium will take place at Bingemans - Marshall Hall (425 Bingemans
Centre Drive, Kitchener, ON, N2B 3X7) from 8:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m.
Experienced IABC Grand Valley members will present sessions on a
variety of communication topics including social media, communication
planning, media relations, and branding. These sessions are designed
to help not-for-profits, junior communicators, and students hone their
communication skills and network with local experts. "So far, more
than 60 people have registered to come out and learn the how to
enhance their efforts in reaching stakeholders and making an
impression. We're thrilled with the response and hope to make the Gift
of Communication Symposium an annual event," said Christina Laughren,
President of the IABC Grand Valley Chapter.

The cost for attendees is $65 per person (continental breakfast and
lunch are included). IABC Grand Valley is a not-for-profit
organization and is a proud member of Volunteer Canada. The symposium
is being run on a cost-recovery basis and all organizers and
presenters are participating as volunteers.
