Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association Announces 36th President
Waterloo Region - Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association (WRHBA) is pleased to announce its 36th President, Mr. Brian Blackmere. Brian has been a member of WRHBA’s Board of Directors since 2005 and was appointed President on May 26, 2009.

Brian is currently Senior Planner with the Urban Land Group of Stantec
Consulting in Kitchener. Stantec is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm serving a
broad range of clientele across all of North America while Brian’s geographic
focus has been on Waterloo Region during most of his land development career.
He brings to his role as President a firm understanding of the housing industry
garnered through his role as Director of Development Planning for Reid’s
Heritage Homes as well as his service on behalf of WRHBA on Urban Council
and the Board of Directors for the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.

Brian is a graduate of the University of Toronto and Seneca College and has worked in the local development
industry since moving to Waterloo Region in 1988. Brian has also served as Charter President of the Westvale-
Waterloo Optimist Club and Lieutenant Governor of Zone 13 of the Mid Western Ontario District of Optimist
International.
Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association has been the official “voice of the residential construction industry” in
the Region of Waterloo since 1946. WRHBA has over 235 members and it is the 10th largest association national
and part of the 8,000 member companies within Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA), and the fifth largest
association provincially and part of the 4,200 member companies within Ontario Home Builders’ Association
(OHBA).
WRHBA is actively involved in all facets of the new home construction and residential renovation industries. It is a
voluntary association whose primary goal is to positively impact the communities where their members and their
customers live, work and play. Through ongoing representation to municipal government, media relations and
consumer education, they address important issues head on and have a strong presence that benefits members and
contributes to housing affordability and the well-being of communities in the Region of Waterloo. WRHBA members
also greatly benefit through their motto to “Call a Member First”, monthly networking events, and several corporate
discounts and saving packages.
