Desire2Learn Leads the Way On Accessibility Within Learning Management Systems

Desire2Learn will co-present session on creating accessible courses in a Learning Management System (LMS) at The University of Guelph's Aiming for Accessibility Conference

Kitchener-Waterloo – Desire2Learn Incorporated, will co-present a session entitled "Beyond Alt Tags: Creating Accessible Courses in a Learning Management System (LMS)" at The University of Guelph's Aiming for Accessibility Conference Wednesday, May 27, 2009.

The Conference will raise awareness of information and communication accessibility issues and provide practical strategies and techniques for addressing them. The conference will also provide a starting point for staff training on communication and information accessibility as mandated by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Both Mackie and Earl are active members of the Desire2Learn Accessibility Interest Group, a consortium with representatives from several Canadian, U.S. and U.K. educational institutions, working directly with Desire2Learn Product Designers to continue to ensure that the Desire2Learn platform is the leading accessibility offering in the marketplace. As well, the Group works to raise awareness of accessibility issues in their individual institutions and among all users.
