Dan Santerre appointed Director of Hydro One Remote Communities

TORONTO - Hydro One announced the appointment of Dan Santerre as Director of Hydro One Remote Communities Inc., which distributes electricity to remote communities in Northern Ontario.

Mr. Santerre was formerly the Distribution Superintendent of Lines, Northwest Region, of Hydro One Networks. He has 25 years of experience as a Hydro One employee in Northwestern Ontario, and is well acquainted with challenges of serving the northern and remote communities.

"Dan Santerre has in-depth knowledge of customer needs and line-related challenges in Northwestern Ontario, and I'm pleased to announce his appointment as Director of Hydro One Remote Communities," said Myles D'Arcey, President and CEO of Hydro One Remote Communities Inc.

Born in Geraldton, Ontario, Dan graduated from Geraldton Composite High School and attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where he graduated with a BA majoring in History. He joined Ontario Hydro in 1984 and has worked in many roles during his career at Ontario Hydro/Hydro One, including lineman, health and safety specialist, and most recently Provincial Lines Superintendent.

Hydro One Remote Communities Inc. operates 18 small, regulated generation and distribution systems in 20 remote communities across Northern Ontario that are not connected to Ontario's electricity grid. Many of these communities are only accessible via air transportation or winter roads.

Hydro One Remote Communities is a subsidiary of Hydro One. Hydro One delivers electricity safely, reliably and responsibly to homes and businesses across the province of Ontario and owns and operates Ontario's 29,000 km high-voltage transmission network that delivers electricity to large industrial customers and municipal utilities, and a 123,000 km low-voltage distribution system that serves about 1.3 million end-use customers and smaller municipal utilities in the province. Hydro One is wholly owned by the Province of Ontario.
