Lorne Brownsey Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Tourism Commission

OTTAWA - The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), announced the appointment of Lorne Brownsey to the Board of Directors of the CTC.

"I would like to welcome Mr. Brownsey to the CTC, and look forward to his contribution to Canada's growing tourism industry," said Minister Clement. "I am confident that his experience as British Columbia's Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts will complement the Board's vision over the next four years."

Mr. Brownsey previously served British Columbia as Deputy Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation from 2003 to 2009. Prior to joining the British Columbia Public Service in 2001, Mr. Brownsey held a number of senior positions in the federal public service.

Before joining the federal government, Mr. Brownsey directed and managed research on governance, free trade, Asia Pacific relations and land claims at the Institute for Research on Public Policy.

Mr. Brownsey holds a bachelor's degree in Asian studies and political science and a master's degree in public administration.
