Emirates makes aviation history with launch of A380 service to Canada

TORONTO - Emirates airline will make history today when its Airbus A380 will touch down at Lester B Pearson Airport at approximately 3:45 p.m. marking the first commercial 'superjumbo' jet to land on Canadian soil. The 13-hour flight will take off at 9:55 a.m. Dubai time with 489 passengers and 30 cabin crew on board.

The A380 is the world's only twin-deck, four-aisle airliner that has 35 per cent more seats than its closest rival. It towers at 24 metres or approximately 8 stories in height with a wingspan of nearly 80 metres. Futuristic luxuries include on-board shower spas and exceptional communal lounges.

The most environmentally advanced commercial aircraft in the sky today, burning up to 20 per cent less fuel per seat than today's next largest aircraft, the A380 is also quieter as it generates less than half the noise of other aircraft on takeoff.
