Paul Tratnyek and Manny Figueiredo Join Senior Leadership Team

Waterloo Region, ON – The Waterloo Catholic District School Board tonight appointed two new Superintendents of Learning.

Paul Tratnyek assumes responsibility for the Board’s five secondary schools and a number of elementary schools and will facilitate the Board’s “faith development” portfolio.

Manny Figueiredo assumes responsibility for the Board’s St. Benedict and St. Mary’s families of elementary schools and will facilitate the Board’s “parent engagement” portfolio.

Tratnyek – currently Vice Principal of St. Mary’s High School in Kitchener – holds a B.A. from the University of Waterloo, a B.Ed. and Master of Divinity degree from the University of Western Ontario and an M.A. from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. A former high school Chaplain and elementary school Principal, he is a well-known musician and an expert on the Catholic Liturgy. He is a past recipient of St. Jerome’s University’s Distinguished Graduate Award.

Figueiredo – a former WCDSB teacher and current Principal of the School Effectiveness Framework with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board – holds a Bachelor of Physical Education degree from McMaster University, a B.Ed. from York University and an M.Ed. from Brock University. A dedicated sports coach, he played a lead role in revamping Ontario’s physical education curriculum and was influential in developing Hamilton-Wentworth’s anit-racism and ethno-cultural policies.

The students, staff and Trustees of Waterloo Region’s Catholic Schools welcome Paul and Manny to the Senior Leadership Team.

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board, representing more than 100,000 Catholic school supporters, operates 52 schools and five adult education facilities serving more than 40,000 elementary, secondary and continuing education students in Waterloo Region – continuing a tradition of quality, inclusive, faith-based education first begun in 1836.
