Waterloo - DALSA Corporation is proud to announce that its Chairman and Founder, Dr. Savvas Chamberlain, has been appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada. The announcement, made on Canada Day, July 1 2009, recognizes his outstanding achievements as a research scientist, professor, inventor, and entrepreneur.

The Order of Canada is this country's highest distinction, recognizing a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. It will be presented to Dr. Chamberlain at a special investiture to be held at a later date.

During his 30-year career as a professor at the University of Waterloo, Dr. Chamberlain made many important contributions and published more than 150 papers in refereed scientific journals and conference proceedings. DALSA, the company he founded in 1980, has grown to approximately 1000 employees world-wide and in 2008 recorded over $200 million in revenue.

Dr. Chamberlain is active in many local charities, and has served on many professional committees.
