Carleton is Proud to Host the Emperor and Empress of Japan

Ottawa – Carleton will be hosting Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan on Monday, July 6 as part of their two-week Canadian tour. The visit will take place from 12:55 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. and will include a lunch hosted by Carleton and the University of Ottawa.

Carleton has a long tradition of international engagement and partnership. In fact, flags from dozens of countries are now flying high in Carleton’s Atrium following a special ceremony held in 2008. More than 150 countries are represented among Carleton’s student body, 10 percent of which are international students. Carleton currently has more than 100 exchange and research agreements in 38 countries, including seven agreements with universities in Japan. There are currently 22 students with Japanese citizenship studying at Carleton and another 18 Japanese international students.
