Summer Picnic Program

“Backpacks for Bookworms”

Cambridge – The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank will be registering children for the Backpack for Bookworms program at their summer picnic at Soper Park (Back end of park) on July 15, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank is very grateful for the donations of backpacks and school supplies for the “Backpacks for Bookworms” program. This year we expect that over 1,000 children will require back to school backpacks and supplies.

Items that are still needed are: backpacks for all grades, binders, lined and blank paper, math sets, pencils, crayons, markers, calculators etc.,

The Food Bank is asking area residents and businesses to donate school supplies and snacks, to send children that are less fortunate back to school this September. Donations can be dropped off at the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank at 54 Ainslie Street South, Cambridge.

Volunteers will be putting the Backpacks together from the 17 – 21st of August. Distribution of the back packs for children will be August 26, 2008 in time for children to start school in September. It is never too late to get involved.
