Construction at King and Queen street causes temporary closure of intersection

KITCHENER - Starting Monday, July 27 at 6 a.m. the intersection at Queen and King streets will be closed to through traffic to allow for work on underground services within the intersection. Queen Street will be closed to all traffic during this period.

Local access will still be permitted on Queen Street from Charles Street to Halls Lane and from Duke Street to Goudies Lane; but there will be no access across King Street (between Halls Lane and Goudies Lane). Pedestrian access to King Street and Queen Street will be maintained during this closure.

The construction at the intersection is expected to take approximately two weeks.

The King Street Reconstruction project began April 7, 2009 will feature wider sidewalks, flexible parking, improved lighting, added street trees and new planters that will filter storm water.
