Southern-Ontario Projects To Get Federal Cash for Skilled Jobs in Energy
KITCHENER The federal government announced that a skills training centre, operated by Conestoga College and to be built in Ingersoll will train students to work in the energy industry to improve power lines and associated energy projects.
Putting $3.3 million into the venture, the Federal Government will partner with the Town of Ingersoll.
Innovation and Technology Minister Gary Goodyear, in a rather humourous announcement said. “The goal is to create jobs in the very, very short term, as quickly as possible". His party's goal - "to diversify our economic base through southern Ontario" received some criticism from opposition MP's for the length of time and spending oversight.
A list of the first 90 projects will be released September 10. With the Ingersoll training school scheduled to be launch in the early part of 2010.
