Sudbury & Calgary MEDIchair, North America’s largest and fastest growing Home Medical Equipment (HME) franchise company and its 20 Ontario franchisee owners are pleased to announce the formation of MEDIchair Ontario, Canada’s first provincial HME franchise company. “This a new milestone for MEDIchair and the first time in our history that we have been able to service governments, hospitals and long-term health care facilities through one company,” says Bas van Lankvelt, MEDIchair’s Chief Operating Officer.
Norm Gervais, president of MEDIchair Ontario and Owner of MEDIchair Sudbury agrees, “We based MEDIchair Ontario on a co-operative business model that allows each of our 20 franchise owners to collectively own and operate MEDIchair Ontario. Each owner has one vote. Each owner shares equally in any profits.”
MEDIchair Ontario Vice-President David Parton added, “The business concept is sound and provides us with an unmatched ability to provide HME products and professional services to hospitals, physicians and large healthcare facilities anywhere in the province with just one point of contact.”
MEDIchair Ontario Vice-President David Parton also owns MEDIchair franchises in Cambridge and Guelph Parton who also owns MEDIchair franchises in Cambridge and Guelph explained that all Ontario MEDIchair franchise owners have bought into the concept and have committed fully to MEDIchair Ontario. “All the franchise owners understand that this is a team concept and that when we win an RFP from a government or healthcare body, collectively we all benefit, even though not every franchise owner will participate in every project.”
“I think MEDIchair Ontario is going to surprise a lot of organizations with the breadth and depth of its experiences
and capabilities,” explains Gervais. “Collectively we are a provincial powerhouse and our product and service
offerings to hospitals and large health care facilities are second to none. We are very optimistic about our future
success. In fact, we have already started submitting our responses to RFPs.”
Gervais added that initially the corporate headquarters for MEDIchair Ontario would be Sudbury. We have hired
full time administrative staff to manage the new company. He also noted that MEDIchair Ontario has a five-member
Board of Directors that represents the interests of all 20 co-owners of MEDIchair Ontario.
