Vote for your Laurier professor!

Waterloo - Do you think Laurier’s professors are the best in the province? Do you have a favourite professor who makes every class memorable? Think that your profs are at the top of their game? Well, then it’s time to give props to your profs! Get ready for TVO’s Best Lecturer Competition – maybe this is the year a lecturer from Laurier will win the coveted title of Ontario’s Best Lecturer!

Created to recognize the best and brightest professors in Ontario, the 2010 Big Ideas Best Lecturer Competition allows students from all the province’s colleges and universities to have their say. And if Laurier wins, it means great recognition for our professors, our university, and a $10,000 TD Insurance Meloche Monnex scholarship.

Here’s your chance to nominate your favourite Laurier lecturers. This year, for the first time ever, nominations will be accepted from now until Monday, October 12, 2009 – that’s more than a month to work on getting your professors’ names in the running for the big competition. For the first time in the history of the competition, last year’s big winner was a college – Canadore College in North Bay currently holds bragging rights to the title of Ontario’s Best Lecturer. This year it could be Laurier!

It’s easy to nominate a professor and we’re asking you to help spread the word. Let’s nominate as many lecturers as possible and increase Laurier’s chances! Each nominator will be entered into a contest to win one of two iPod Touch devices.

Here’s how to do it:

• Fill out a nomination form at www.tvo.org/bigideas OR

• Send an email to bl@tvo.org with detailed information on the nominated lecturer and the subject line “BL 2010 Nomination” OR

• Send a short video via email to bl@tvo.org with detailed information on the nominated lecturer and the subject line “BL 2010 Nomination” OR

• After September 8, visit the official TVO Best Lecturer Facebook page (address details to be announced) and send a direct message with detailed information on the nominated lecturer

Be sure to include the full name of the professor and their department, Wilfrid Laurier University and a short description (between 50 and 100 words) detailing the reason(s) the professor should be nominated as Best Lecturer, and your full name, email, address and telephone number.

After submitting the nomination form, a TVO producer may respond by email for more details.

Let’s show the rest of the province that Laurier professors truly deserve the title of Ontario’s Best Lecturer!
