Ontario's doctors congratulate latest U.S. jurisdiction to pass menu board labelling legislation

TORONTO - Ontario's doctors are congratulating Albany County, New York for passing a law that requires chain restaurants with ten or more locations nationally to post the calorie counts of items on their menus and menu boards. The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) is calling for similar legislation to be introduced in Ontario.

The office is located on the 2nd floor of the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank (CSHFB) at 54 Ainslie St. S in Cambridge (Galt).

Ottawa – Following the launch of several new initiatives and an aggressive recruitment campaign, registrations for undergraduate students at Carleton University for 2009-2010 are up by seven per cent.

Retail sales in current dollars rose in June 2009, increasing 1.0% to $34.4 billion.

Statscan - Most of the gain was driven by higher prices, especially for gasoline, as retail sales in volume terms increased 0.4%. Retail sales have risen in five of the last six months, following large drops at the end of 2008.

SkyPower receives environmental approval for Digby, Nova Scotia, wind project

TORONTO -SkyPower Corp. and Scotian Windfileds announced that Nova Scotia Environment has granted environmental approval for 25.5 MW of wind turbine capacity for the Digby wind power project which is to be located in Digby, Nova Scotia. Once completed, the Digby Project will be one of Nova Scotia's largest wind parks.

The Crosstown collapsible bike trailer, a Canadian student invention, is set to compete among the top twenty international designs for the James Dyson Award

Hamilton - Two green thinking Canadian student inventors have earned top honours in the James Dyson Design competition. The Crosstown, designed by McMaster University engineering students Cory Minkhorst and Lindsey Kettel, captured the National crown in the Canadian portion of the competition — and has been selected as one of the top twenty finalists in the world.
