Back to school - this time in CANADA!
Helping newcomer youth adjust to school life in Canada
Kitchener - Newcomer Orientation Week (NOW) is designed to help newcomer students
succeed academically and socially in the Ontario school system so they
can achieve their full potential. A key feature of the program
is the role of peer leaders - older immigrant students who have
graduated from the program, and who act as mentors.
Activities include: interactive games; skits about the challenges of
life in a new school in a new country; an introduction to school
routines and library resources. This innovative program is funded by
Citizenship and Immigration Canada and implemented by local settlement
agencies and school boards.
Come join newcomer youth and their families as they embark on a new
chapter in their lives.
