Craig Wireless Launches Canada's First 4G Network in Vancouver, British Columbia

WINNIPEG - Craig Wireless Systems Ltd. officially announced that, following the Industry Canada decision to award a Broadband Radio Service License to its subsidiary, Craig Wireless British Columbia Inc., it is commencing construction of a new 802.16e WiMAX-enabled 4G network in Vancouver, British Columbia. Craig Wireless' leading edge 4G network in Vancouver will offer both consumer and business users the ability to access the Internet wirelessly from any place within the coverage area at broadband speeds, and at prices competitive to those of incumbent Internet service providers.

"We are thrilled to be launching this leading-edge 4G network in one of the Canada's most exciting cities. We believe that consumers and businesses in Vancouver will embrace 4G technology and the speed, productivity and freedom of mobility that it allows users," said Co-Chief Executive Officer, Drew Craig.

Craig Wireless has selected Motorola, Inc. as its equipment vendor for the network build-out because of its reputation for quality and reliability and because of Motorola's comprehensive portfolio of customer premises equipment that will give Craig Wireless and its customers access to a large selection of the most advanced end-user devices to support its services. Motorola has agreed to provide its end-to-end WiMAX solution, including base stations, wireless access controllers and an operation and maintenance center (OMC). Motorola also will provide supporting services for network design, planning, installation and optimization for end-to-end integration of the network, which will operate in the 2.5GHz spectrum band.

"The Motorola solution will enable us to hit the ground running in our Vancouver market and seize immediate opportunities to serve our customers with new mobile services and applications," said Rod Vandenbos, president of Craig Wireless Systems Ltd. "Our customers in Vancouver will be able to enjoy fast, reliable connections to the Internet anywhere they live, work or play."

"This first commercial deployment of Motorola's WiMAX technology in Canada underscores our commitment to WiMAX," said Fred Gabbard, vice president Wireless Networks, Motorola Home & Networks Mobility. "We look forward to helping Craig Wireless launch a new technology for new services in a new market and in future markets as they expand internationally."
