Research Chairs
University of Ottawa receives $5.6 million for the renewal of four Canada Research Chairs
OTTAWA The University of Ottawa is proud to announce that four of its existing Canada Research Chairs have been renewed and will receive a total of $5.6 million in funding.
“The Canada Research Chairs program allows the University of Ottawa to recruit and retain top researchers the world over,” said Mona Nemer, Vice-President of Research at the University of Ottawa. “Thanks to this program, these researchers can continue to enhance the research and education missions in key areas of interest for the University of Ottawa.”
The four existing chairs that have been renewed are:
Thomas Brabec, Natural Sciences and Engineering
Canada Research Chair in Ultrafast Photonics

Pierre A. Lévy, Social Sciences and Humanities
Canada Research Chair in Collective Intelligence
$1,400,000
Hussein T. Mouftah, Natural Sciences and Engineering
Canada Research Chair in Wireless Sensor Networks
$1,400,000
David Sankoff, Natural Sciences and Engineering
Canada Research Chair in Mathematical Genomics
$1,400,000
