Rev. Paul Voisin, C.R., to Receive Catholic Board’s Distinguished Graduate Award

Waterloo Region – Reverend Paul S. Voisin, C.R., has been named recipient of the 2009 Waterloo Catholic District School Board Distinguished Graduate Award.

Father Paul will accept the award on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 during Resurrection Catholic Secondary School’s annual graduation ceremonies. He is a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes CES and St. David CSS (Grades 9-10) in Waterloo, and the former St. Jerome’s High School in Kitchener.

Father Paul holds a B.A. from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Divinity degree from the University of Western Ontario (St. Peter’s Seminary) in London, Ontario. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 14, 1977 and assigned as Assistant Pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Kitchener.

From August 1983 until April 1996 Father Paul served in the Congregation of the Resurrection’s (C.R.) mission in Bolivia – serving as both Assistant Pastor and Pastor in several parishes.

Returning to Canada in 1996 Father Paul enjoyed a sabbatical year of studies at Regis College of the University of Toronto. Completing his studies he became Pastor (for three years) of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission in Kitchener, serving the Catholic Hispanic communities of Waterloo, Wellington and Brant counties of the Diocese of Hamilton in Ontario. In November, 2000 he was appointed Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Kitchener.

On March 1, 2005 Father Paul was appointed to the esteemed position of Provincial Superior of the Ontario-Kentucky Province of the Congregation of the Resurrection.

Since August 2008 Father Paul has been Pastor of St. Patrick Parish in Bermuda, and is Vicar General of the Diocese of Hamilton in Bermuda.

The staff and students of Waterloo Region’s Catholic Schools proudly congratulate Father Paul for his many outstanding accomplishments and thank him for his continued and unwavering support for Catholic education around the world.
