University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management named as one of the world's best design schools
By Ken McGuffin
Toronto - The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto was named as one of the world's 30 best schools for educating the design thinkers and innovators of the future by BusinessWeek in a feature posted to the magazine's website on September 30.
The magazine noted that design and innovation courses are offered to Rotman MBA students through DesignWorks, the school's academic and commercial learning lab for design-based education.
BusinessWeek asked a panel of academics, designers and business managers to recommend master's and MBA programs that combine design thinking and business administration. Other institutions which made the list included Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, Illinois Institute of Technology, and INSEAD.
David Aycan, a graduate of the Rotman MBA program, was included in a list of twenty-one people who will change business. Aycan is currently senior business designer and program leader with the global design consultancy IDEO.
A new book on design thinking written by Roger Martin, Dean of the Rotman School, will be published later this month by Harvard Business Press. The book is titled Why Design Thinking is the Next Competitive Advantage.
