George Young Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Tourism Commission
OTTAWA - Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), today announced the four-year term appointment of Mr. George Young to the Board of Directors of the CTC.
"We are excited to have Mr. Young join the CTC's Board for the next four years," said Minister Clement. "As a former reporter, he provides the Board with a wealth of experience and expertise in media."
Mr. Young was a reporter with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) from 1974 to 1994. He covered the Canada-Russia hockey series in 1972. He has also covered seven Olympic Games, four World Cup of Soccer championships and numerous other world championships.
Mr. Young was once appointed as a member of the International Olympic Committee's Radio and Television Commission. He is now one of three district and town councillors for the Town of Huntsville, Ontario. For the past seven years, Mr. Young has chaired the Economic Development Committee for the Town of Huntsville, where he has helped introduce sport tourism.
