Alumni of Distinction winners to be named on October 22

Kitchener - More than 20 nominees, their families and guests, and senior Conestoga officials will gather for a special evening reception on Thursday, October 22 to name the winners of the 2009 Conestoga Alumni of Distinction Awards.

The nominees have been chosen for their career achievements and community contributions. A committee of alumni and College representatives reviewed the nominations and has chosen seven winners, based on three criteria: career highlights, volunteer and community involvement, and professional recognition and special awards.

There will be a winner announced in each of these categories: business; engineering and information technology; health and life sciences; community services; media and design; trades and apprenticeship; and recent graduate.

In addition, the Alumni Association of Conestoga College will present a number of Welcome Home Awards – financial awards to deserving current Conestoga students who are the children of alumni.

Conestoga/OMTC Masonry Training Centre, 108 University Ave. E., Waterloo

In all, more than 100 will attend the function. President John Tibbits will present the awards.
