University of Ottawa named among National Capital Region's top 25 employers for 2010

OTTAWA — The University of Ottawa is honoured to be named one of the 2010 National Capital Region’s top 25 employers, announced today in the Ottawa Citizen.

Located in the heart of Canada’s capital, uOttawa earned a spot among the region’s top employers for many reasons, including free tuition for employees, spouses and dependants, and a longstanding commitment to the community with its involvement in activities such as Shave for a Cure, the United Way fundraising campaign, food drives, and community BBQs.

With exceptional employee dedication, its strong commitment to providing a multicultural and bilingual environment and the desire to enrich the intellectual and cultural life of Canada, the University of Ottawa continues to strive for excellence and provide the best workplace possible.

The National Capital Region's Top Employers annual award is sponsored by Mediacorp Canada Inc. and is presented to employers that provide exceptional workplaces and offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs compared with other organizations in their same field. The rigorous selection process is overseen by an advisory board that evaluates the organizations and ranks them according to award criteria.

In order to place in the top 25, organizations must be leaders in their field in terms of physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development as well as community involvement.
