Local Guinness World Record Attempts Third World Record

Kitchener – Former Kitchener resident and current Guinness World Record holder for memory, Dave Farrow will attempt to set a third Guinness World Record for world’s largest history class. This event will bring awareness to Alzheimer’s Society of Kitchener-Waterloo and will take place at Eastwood Collegiate Institute, Kitchener on October 25, 2009 at 3pm.

Farrow has teamed up with the Kitchener Rangers and Waterloo Region Record to celebrate Canadian history and our favourite sport – hockey! Farrow, will teach everyone in attendance some of Canada’s most interesting historical facts and his coveted memory techniques.

“This event demonstrates exercising your brain in ways in which you can help delay onset of dementia. This is just one way that the Alzheimer Society of Kitchener Waterloo is celebrating their 25th anniversary of service to their clients and partners in our community,” said Debra McGonegal, manager of events and donor relations for the Alzheimer’s Society of Kitchener Waterloo

The Guinness World Record attempt will take approximately 40 minutes and is open to everyone in the community. Registration for the event is at 3 pm and the world record attempt will begin at 4 pm sharp. A minimum of 250 participants are needed to set the record for the largest history class.

This event takes place just a few hours before the Kitchener Rangers home game at the Aud. Farrow will take the ice at intermission to entertain the crowd and share some memory techniques. Farrow is a two-time Guinness World Record holder - most recently setting a record for memorizing 59 randomly shuffled decks of playing cards.
