MTE Named to Waterloo Area’s Top 15 Employers List

Kitchener - On October 17, the annual Waterloo Area’s Top Employers List was released, with MTE Consultants Inc. (MTE) earning a spot amongst the 15 local organizations honoured this year.

“We are ecstatic to receive this distinction. In the engineering and science fields, often one of the core differences between average and outstanding firms are the people. This has encouraged us to implement programs and benefits for retaining our talented staff,” said MTE president Greg Marks. “Our employees know that MTE is a great place to work; now we have the grade to prove it.”

Entering its third year, Waterloo Area’s Top Employers is organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, a national competition recognizing the country’s leading employers. The regional contest identifies companies in the Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph areas that endeavour to offer exceptional working environments.

To create both the regional and national lists, Mediacorp Canada Inc. examines the recruitment histories of over 75,000 Canadian firms and invites 24,000 companies to participate in the application process. Over 2,600 organizations participated this year.

Candidates in the Waterloo competition are evaluated based on the same eight criteria as the national level, which includes physical workspace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. Companies are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

MTE has been serving southwestern Ontario since 1985. The company’s more than 175 employees provide services in civil (land and site development), municipal, structural and environmental engineering. The company’s environmental service lines also include hydrogeology; mould and asbestos remediation; toxicology; and product testing and registration. MTE has offices in Kitchener, Burlington, Guelph and Stratford.
