CAW Reaches First Tentative Agreement with Aeroplan

TORONTO - The CAW has reached a first tentative agreement with Aeroplan early this morning. The agreement covers 900 workers in the company's two offices in Montreal and Vancouver. "This is a good agreement which ends many months of insecurity for our members," said CAW Local 2002 President Leslie Dias, representing workers in the transportation sector, including the airlines.

Aeroplan separated from Air Canada in 2005, but this year workers at the company had to decide whether to continue working at the independent Aeroplan or possibly go to a position at Air Canada, which was then threatening a return to bankruptcy protection. Workers will be voting on the new deal late next week.
