Canadian aquaculture production decreased 5.5% in 2008 to 144 684 metric tonnes.
Statscan - Structural changes in the industry, such as consolidations and closures, continued to affect the industry in 2008. Operating revenues declined 7.3% from $810.1 million in 2007 to $751.1 million in 2008.
The gross value added to the economy by the aquaculture industry fell to $229.3 million, down 13.5% from 2007.
