A fun race to build strong kids 19th Annual Jingle Bell Run – Sunday, November 22, 2008

Cambridge – On Sunday, November 22, 2008 the YMCA of Cambridge will host the 19th Annual Jingle Bell Run. The 2.5K family fun run/walk starts at 10 a.m. and the 5K race starts at 10:40 a.m. The event is generously sponsored in part by the Gore Mutual Insurance Company.

Participants can enter as an individual or as a team. There are prizes for both categories—including Best Costume. Following the race there will be prizes, refreshments, food, and other fun activities for the entire family.

The entry cost for runners ages 13 and over is $30, $12 for children ages 9 – 12 cost and $8 for children ages 8 and under.

Runners can also collect pledges in support of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and have their entry fee waived if they raise a minimum of $50. The first 350 runners will receive a free “wicking” t-shirt. Runners collecting pledges make it possible for the YMCA to help all children and families enjoy the benefits of participating in its programs and services by removing financial barriers.

“The Jingle Bell Run is a fun day for everyone,” said Joanne Lea, General Manager of the Chaplin Family YMCA. “Where else do you see a group of candy canes running down the street in support of helping ensure all kids and families have access to the YMCA as part of their active, healthy lifestyle?”
