Rick Hillier Joins CEOs, Regulatory Experts and Economists in Addressing Canada's Investment Managers at Annual ICAC Meeting

Today's Conference Expected to Attract 200 Financial Professionals to Hear What Went Wrong With the Economy And How Canada Should Adapt To A New World Order

TORONTO - The Investment Counsel Association of Canada (ICAC), the official voice of the country's money management community, announced that Rick Hillier, the former Chief Of Defence Staff, Canadian Armed Forces is the keynote speaker at its annual meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2009 in Toronto.

"General Hillier headlines an outstanding line-up industry CEOs, economists, as well as current and former regulators who will address Canada's portfolio management community on how Canada needs to adapt to the new global economic and financial order," said ICAC President Katie Walmsley. "This event promises to be action-packed as we discuss what went wrong with the global economy and whether the current economic, political and regulatory solutions that are before us will take Canada in the right direction."

Doug Hyndman, Chair of the Canadian Securities Transition Office - the federal office charged with leading the transition to a single Canadian securities regulator - will also moderate a session on regulatory reform.

The by invitation-only event will be held at The Toronto Board of Trade, 1st Canadian Place, on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 8:45 am to 4:30 pm and is expected to attract more than 200 senior-level professionals from investment counsel/portfolio management firms and Canadian pension funds.
