Five Conestoga Students Earn Millennium Scholarships

Kitchener - Five Conestoga College students are among the final year’s group to earn National In-Course Awards from the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation.

The Foundation was established by the federal government in 2003 to recognize and reward outstanding students and to encourage them in the pursuit of their higher education goals. The Foundation concluded operations this year.

Albert Nyikos of Kitchener is one of only 200 young Canadians to receive a Level 2 scholarship, valued at $10,250. He is a student in the Renovation Technician program at Conestoga’s campus in Waterloo.

The other four Conestoga winners are among 653 Canadians to earn Level 3 scholarships, each of which is valued at $4,500. All are students at the Doon campus in Kitchener. Francis Coral-Mellon is a Waterloo resident and studying in the Broadcast – Television program. Matthew Kennedy of Kitchener is enrolled in Business Administration – Financial Planning. Erin Moerman is a student in the Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant program and is from Ridgetown. Benjamin Pavey of Cambridge originally enrolled in Business – General, but is now in the Business Administration – Marketing program.

Millennium Scholarship laureates are nominated by their institutions and selected on the basis of academic achievement, leadership/innovation, good citizenship and service to the community.
