Airline receives prestigious awards at annual Mazatlan tourism trade show
CALGARY - WestJet announced that it has been named Canadian airline of the year by the tourism industry of Mazatlan, Mexico.
This is the first time WestJet has received this prestigious award, known as The Golden Deer, in recognition and appreciation for the airline's support of tourism in Mazatlan. It was presented recently to Yehudi Altman, Director of Product, WestJet Vacations, by Antonio Ibarra, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Sinaloa, Mexico, at Mazatlan's annual tourism trade show, the Gran Fiesta Amigos de Mazatlan.
"This wonderful honour is a tribute to the efforts of all WestJetters," said Yehudi Altman. "As the number one tour operator to Mazatlan, we are all very proud to be associated with this fabulous destination."
At the same event, tourism secretary Antonio Ibarra also named Yehudi "special ambassador for Mazatlan in Canada" and awarded him with the keys to the city of Mazatlan for his "unconditional support and friendship for over 30 years."
"This award came as a total surprise to me," said Yehudi. "I am deeply touched and honoured to have received it. I have a particular passion for Mazatlan, and that makes this even more special."
