Nominations sought for City of Kitchener Business Heritage Awards

KITCHENER – Nominations are being sought by the City of Kitchener for the bi-annual Business Heritage Awards, which take place February 2, 2010, in the Rotunda at City Hall.

The awards celebration is designed to publicly recognize and highlight the milestone achievements of Kitchener businesses that have made a longstanding commitment to doing business in Kitchener.

Nominations received prior to December 28, 2009, will be considered for the Business Heritage Celebration in February.

Since the awards were first presented in 1987, hundreds of Kitchener companies – a virtual Who’s Who of local businesses – have been recognized for their longevity and success.

The Business Heritage Celebration program is presented by the Mayor and Council and the City’s Economic Development Department. The focus of the awards is on businesses that have reached the following milestones: 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200 years.

Nomination forms are available on the City of Kitchener’s website www.kitchener.ca or at Kitchener City Hall, Economic Development on the sixth floor.
