Children's Museum Sponsors Orchestral Zeppelin
Eastwood Collegiate Music Program Students to be in Spotlight
Kitchener - Collaborating with Eastwood Collegiate, The Children’s Museum is proud to be sponsoring Orchestral Zeppelin, a musical performance started by musician Michael White.
Michael White is known by many to have begun the cover band genre of music with Led Zeppelin being his main influence since he entered the music scene in 1973. Orchestral Zeppelin, founded by White, is a 50 piece youth orchestra fronted by White’s band and his vocals playing the music of legendary rock band, Led Zeppelin.
Endorsed by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant as “the best tribute band”, they have been performing their version of Zeppelin-mania since 1979. They were the first band ever to call themselves a 'tribute' and have performed over 8000 shows to over 3 million fans around the world.
Working with local Toronto youth Orchestral Zeppelin played to several thousand visitors at the Canadian National Exhibition’s Bandshell this past summer.
Under the supervision of White and Conducted by Kirsten Hunsberger-Shortt, the students of Eastwood Collegiate in Kitchener will have a chance to take part in this multimedia presentation with a portion of the proceeds going to support The Children’s Museum.
This is not the first time the local museum has collaborated with the students of Eastwood Collegiate most recently works of student art were displayed in conjunction with the successful summer science exhibit The Geee! in Genome.
“This is an unexpected intersection of classic and modern tastes that can appeal to many generations,” said David Marskell, Museum CEO “I am delighted that we are showcasing the talent of local youth, but also that we as a museum are becoming known for bringing new and unique events to the community.”
Orchestral Zeppelin will be taking place at the Gig Music Hall on Ontario Street between Duke and Weber in Downtown Kitchener on Saturday December 12th, 2009. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
