Ontario Government Helps Mitchell Plastics Reduce Environmental Impact

TORONTO - Ontario is helping an innovative auto supplier invest in new technology that will boost productivity while reducing its impact on the environment.

The province is investing $1.5 million in Mitchell Plastics, supporting the company's investment of $10 million. This will help create 32 new jobs and retain 215 jobs at their facility in Kitchener.

The investment will allow the company to become a world leader in the manufacturing of decorative trim for the auto industry without using solvents. Mitchell Plastics (http://www.ultramanufacturing.com/) has customers across North America, including Toyota plants in Cambridge and Woodstock.

The government's investment comes from the Next Generation of Jobs Fund. The program allows the government to partner with business to support their investments - a key component of Ontario's five-point economic plan.

"The Ontario government's strategy of helping companies invest in innovative technology is both helping the environment and creating valuable economic stimulus for a great community," said Michael Bryant, Minister of Economic Development.

"This project will help us broaden our capabilities and allows us to provide the lowest cost to our customers while adding skilled positions to our Ontario workforce," said Joe D'Angelo, President and CEO of Mitchell Plastics.
