CDIC Offers Savings Protection Canadians Can Count On
New public awareness campaign urges consumers to find out if - and how - their savings are protected
OTTAWA - The Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) launched a national public awareness campaign designed to boost Canadians' knowledge of CDIC deposit insurance protection.
"Canadians are increasingly asking questions about how they can protect their hard-earned savings," said CDIC President and Chief Executive Officer Guy L. Saint-Pierre. "We wanted to send a very important message to Canadians and that message is this: no matter what, Canadians can count on CDIC."
"RRSP season is typically a time for Canadians to think about their money and to ask questions about CDIC deposit insurance. Our hope is that this campaign will prompt consumers to find out what's covered by CDIC and what's not," said Saint-Pierre.
Canadian are encouraged to visit the CDIC website (cdic.ca), call the CDIC toll free number (1-800-461-CDIC or 1-800-461-2342), or ask where they bank or invest to find out if their savings are protected.
The campaign integrates television, print and web advertising. As in previous years, CDIC has partnered with the Autorite des marches financiers for its Quebec-based advertising.
