Carleton to become Official Home of Canadian Policy Research Networks Archive

Ottawa – Canadian Policy Research Networks (CPRN), a source of advice for Canada’s leaders since 1994, announced that Carleton University has been chosen to house its archive.

“Independent and accessible public policy research has been the cornerstone of CPRN from its inception,” says Sharon Manson Singer, president of the organization. “We are pleased that Carleton University will help ensure that our intellectual legacy continues to be useful and that CPRN research will continue to inform the public policy arena.”

Carleton University will house the complete body of CPRN reports and publications in hard copy, including all relevant archival files. The documents will be available for use to the public, free of charge, at Carleton’s library, where they will be accessed by researchers, policy experts and other stakeholders.

“Carleton has a long tradition as a leader in groundbreaking public policy research,” says Roseann O’Reilly Runte, Carleton University president and vice-chancellor. “Serving as the repository of the CPRN archive will guarantee that our students, researchers and the public continue to have access to the significant body of work undertaken by CPRN over the past 15 years.”

Carleton University has also agreed to host and maintain the CPRN website for seven years, ensuring that every interested party will continue to have free access to all CPRN materials, including 15 years of CPRN downloadable reports.

“The CPRN archive is an important intellectual collection,” adds Carleton University Librarian Margaret Haines. “The Carleton University library is honoured to have been chosen to house such a significant collection of public policy research.”
